We recognise that community engagement is fundamental to the success of our renewable energy projects. We are committed to building transparent, respectful, and meaningful relationships and interactions with all stakeholders and communities throughout every stage of project development.
Our approach
We believe in transparent, respectful, and considered engagement with communities. By providing timely and accessible information about projects, we aim to facilitate open dialogue and build trust with stakeholders.
Early and thoughtful community engagement means we have a deeper understanding of community priorities, concerns and aspirations. By actively listening to community feedback and incorporating it into project planning where possible, we can strive for our projects to align closely with local needs and values.
We understand the importance of building trust and social license within the communities where we operate. By demonstrating accountability, responsiveness, and a genuine commitment to community welfare, we work hard to earn the support and goodwill of residents.
Our commitment
- We respect the views and perspectives of the communities we work with and strive to align our project objectives with their interests and aspirations.
- Successful projects benefit from aligning with the interests of all stakeholders. We aim to create projects that deliver wide-reaching benefits by engaging in collaborative decision-making and transparent communication.
- We are committed to developing long-term relationships with the communities and stakeholders in the areas where we operate. We seek to contribute positively to local economies and communities through ongoing engagement and collaboration.
- We recognise the importance of supporting local businesses and creating job opportunities during the construction and operational phases of our projects. By prioritising local procurement and hiring, we aim to maximise the economic benefits for local communities.
Further examples of community benefit sharing can be found on the CEC Benefit Sharing Guide.
